Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, confirmed on Monday that 32 children and 7 adults had died due to a mysterious dengue-like fever in Firozabad. The CM visited the families that have lost their members and assured them that they will be helped.
He also visited the Firozabad district hospital where children having symptoms of the mysterious illness are undergoing treatment. At least 30 children have succumbed to the mysterious fever in this hospital. The dedicated COVID-19 ward at the hospital has been reserved for patients suffering from this fever.
Some districts in western Uttar Pradesh, including Mathura, Mainpuri and Firozabad, have reported a surge in viral fever cases.
Firozabad District Magistrate, Chandra Vijay Singh, stated that due to heavy rains and water logging, dengue and malaria are causing high fever among children and denied that this is the third COVID wave. The patients were tested and they all tested negative for COVID.
